Welcome to CASS 2011

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences welcomes all new and returning students for 2011.

14 February marked the beginning of O-week activities for 2011.  CASS students had the opportunity to explore the campus and partake in the wide variety of events on offer.

Included in these events was the official 'Welcome to CASS' which was conducted by Dean of Education Professor Joan Beaumont.  Professor Beaumont discussed the range of choices within the College that draw on its research strengths.  She pointed out that CASS develops intellectually flexible students who have very marketable skills with a depth of knowledge of Australian and Global society.  Students learnt that employers recognise CASS graduates as very employable people who are highly educated, adaptable, and with excellent problem solving skills.

The School of Art and School of Music respectively conducted tours and introductions for all their new students.  This included a Jazz in the Piazza session conducted by the School of Music to welcome the beginning of the academic year.

Also during O-week, the Ethel Tory Centre - the new state-of-the-art Languages facility - was used for the first time.  Language students participated in Mac training and Wattle Orientation as part of their introduction to the building's facilities.

The academic component of 2011 begins on Monday 21 February with all lectures commencing in week one (tutorials begin in week two).

If students have any queries regarding their courses they should contact or visit the CASS Student Office (ground floor, Beryl Rawson Building 13).
